Typhoon Virginia
The name Virginia has been used for eight tropical cyclones in the Western Pacific basin.
*1957's Super Typhoon Virginia (T5705) - Category 5 typhoon. Killed 86 people and left behind $20 million (1957 USD; $153.1 million 2008 USD) in damage when it struck Taiwan and southern Japan in late June.
*1960's Typhoon Virginia (T6011, 27W) - Category 2 typhoon. Killed 2 people when it hit Shikoku and Honshū island in Japan during August.
*1963's Tropical Storm Virginia (T6306, 15W, Etang) - Moderate tropical storm that was assigned the PAGASA name Etang.
*1965's Typhoon Virginia (T6525, 31W) - Minimal Category 1 typhoon.
*1968's Tropical Storm Virginia (T6811, 15W) - Weak tropical storm that never affected land.
*1971's Typhoon Virginia (T7125, 26W) - Strong Category 4 typhoon. Struck the Japanese coast with 80 mph (130 km/h) winds. Killed 56 people due to numerous landslides.
*1974's Typhoon Virginia (T7420, 24W) - Moderate Category 1 typhoon that never affected land.
*1978's Typhoon Virginia (T7807, 07W) - Weak Category 1 typhoon. Brushed eastern Japan, but the effects were unknown.
